"Piano Peonies"

I did this painting to present prints to members of the board of the women's chorus that I belong to. This is the original. A bouquet of fresh pink and red peonies arranged in an antique Ball jar on top of a grand piano.

Bougainvillea,

Early one morning, I observed these Bougainvillea leaves that had fallen into the pool at a house we were staying at in Palm Desert, California. The chlorine in the pool had turned the once-bright-red leaves into a rainbow of colors.

Morning Scramble

"Morning at Indian Brook Reservoir"
11x14 oil on panel. Beautiful late-fall morning sun illuminates the foliage of a tree at Indian Brook Reservoir in Essex, Vermont. Minutes after this Plein air painting was completed, the wind picked up and blew all those leaves into the water. Fall foliage is ephemeral. Paintings are not.

A mixed-media watercolor of a very weathered cast iron hitching post shaped like a horse that I ran across on a walk in Manchester, Vermont. I then mounted it on a 1/4" black foam panel and then mounted it on decorative paper background.

This is an 8x10 watercolor I did for part of an online study with artist Angus McEwan. The subject is a rusty old padlocked door in Valetta, Malta. It is not for sale.

I pass this stand of birches each day when I walk my dogs. I took a picture this past fall just after all the leaves had fallen, but before everything turned brown and gray for the winter. I thought it would look great painted in watercolor.
